Focus

I would say that right now I am lacking focus. I think that if you look at my blog you can see it for yourself. I'm all over the place and only post sporadically. I haven't been working on my jewelry, I procrastinate on my homework, and my house hasn't been really clean for months and months.

Of course if you ask those who know me they'll wonder if my house has ever truly been clean, and rightly so. My friends and family know that I only really scrub my house down when I'm hosting a gathering, and even then, my bedroom will be off limits because that is where i hide my piles of unfolded laundry, the children's rooms will be toy ridden minefields of disaster, and there will stacks and file piles in every corner of the house. But to answer their question, yes. Once upon a time my house was really clean. Top to bottom clean. Five years ago. For about two months. Right after we moved in. Then I gave up.

Now jewelry. I've got ideas! I know I can bring those ideas to fruition. BUT, I have no money to make it happen. The adorable boutique that was carrying my items closed. (now let us all bow our head for a moment of silence and shed a tear for Jilli Kae Everything Chic). I have plenty of jewelry that is not posted on my etsy. I have that jewelry photographed and edited. I have been to lazy to upload it. So here are some pics. I would like feedback-a-plenty on what you all think!

Also I've been making these button rings. I make them with vintage buttons as well as those I just really like. I started making them with sterling wire, but soon realized it was much more cost effective to make them with colored copper wire.

So please, FEEDBACK! Let me know what you think. Maybe hearing from you will help me get the lead out and upload all my goodies I have stashed away. Now off to look at my messy kitchen and decide to read my English assignments instead of clean.

whoo hoo!

So, the summer semester ended two weeks ago and my grades are as follows...

English- A
Psychology- A
Theatre- A
Religion- A
Probability and Statistics- B

So I pretty much rocked that semester. The last month of school really kicked my ass. I was physically and mentally drained, and where am I today? Back at school!!!! It's my first day of school for the fall semester. This semester I'm taking, the study of literature, developmental psychology, interpersonal communication, and U.S. history. my classes are all on Monday and Wednesday this semester and the classes are not condensed so I think this semester will be easier on me and my family. (I almost divorced my husband three times during the summer, poor thing. Sometimes I don't deal with stress well.)

What did I do during my break? Well the Hub and I had a lovely weekend at the hotel Andaluz in downtown Albuquerque, www.hotelandaluz.com/ and we ate several meals at Flying star cafe,www.flyingstarcafe.com and The Standard Diner, www.standarddiner.com We had a great time and boy were we in need of some serious alone time. With kids and Grandma time alone is hard to come by these days. The kids may spend a weekend at grandmas, but great grandma is always around repeating herself and forcing me to take pictures of her cat. Oh and one word, incontinence. The joys of caring for the elderly.

I have put on 5 pounds in two weeks due to my new found love of baking. In the last two weeks I have made, challa 3 times, chocolate chip cookies (the best I have ever had thank you smitten kitchen!www.smittenkitchen.com ) St Louis gooey butter cake, and a chocolate layer cake with a brandied ganache frosting. all from the fore mentioned smitten kitchen. My kitchen aid has never seen so much action!!

So this is my update for now with more to come.

PMS

I think I have PMS. I dream't about a cupcake I couldn't eat last night. So Sad!
The dream:
I walk into an adorable bakery boutique. It's super cute. I walk up to the counter and ask "how much is that cupcake?" Girl in my dream tells me "two seventy five" I say "I'll take it" she rings me up and informs me that my total is two hundred and seventy five dollars. Outraged I storm out of the bakery muttering to myself that if she meant hundreds she should have said so in the first place.

Heart Ache!

Two things made my heart ache today.

1. I saw my baby brother today.

2. I went into a gallery.

Seeing my twenty five year old baby brother made my heart ache because I miss him so much! It's so strange to walk in to the restaurant he works at and see my brother a full grown man! We used to be very close but now I'm lucky if I see him once a year. There is no excuse for this! We live in the same damn city!!! Both of us have not been making time for each other and that is why we aren't as close as we used to be. Time to show a little effort on both our parts!

On my way to my car I stopped at Mariposa Gallery. I began to feel very emotional looking around. When I left I realized how much I missed working at a gallery! I used to think I just missed the people I worked with, which of course I do they are awesome, but I think working with art is something I miss just as much. Learning about the artists and their art fed my soul. I was surrounded by the creation of compelling and beautiful things and I was inspired to make my own art. That something I miss very much.
