Tagged!

I've been tagged by Olive Street Studio http://olivestreetstudio.blogspot.com/. Perfect timing because I've been in a blogging slump. So here we go.

8 things I'm looking forward to...

1. Folding my laundry later today. (Sick I know)

2. Drinking a nice hot cup of black coffee

3. Playing Blockus with the husband and kicking his ass for the 100th time in a row. I'm not a graceful winner.

4. Making out with the hubby after creaming him at Blockus.

5. Finding a job I like.

6. getting some pickle for my jewelry so I don't have to spend 20 min polishing one stack ring.

7. Laying out and enjoying the breeze. It's breezy today.

8. Cuddling with the boys while reading James and the Giant Peach.

8 things I did yesterday.

1. Started my period.

2. Made cookies, and ate way too many of them. (See #1.)

3. Took the boys to the park with what was left of the cookies.

4. Started reading Big Sur at the park.

5. Came home and listened to the boys laugh at Shrek 3.

6. Started making some stack rings.

7. Got a real nasty headache.

8. Watched A Lion in Winter.

8 things I wish I could do.

1. The splits.

2. Buy some materials for jewelry.

3. Buy a sewing machine.

4. Travel. In particular, I'd like to see the ocean. Never have.

5. Run for miles! instead of 1/2 a mile.

6. Pull ups.

7. Move my round belly to my flat ass.

8. not feel sad looking at this list.

8 shows I watch.

1. 30 Rock

2. Ghost Hunters (I want to believe, but I don't)

3. The Office

4. Breaking Bad (When I can sit through it without feeling anxious)

5. Young and the Restless. (My hubbys fault. He's been watching it since he was 5 with his mom.)

6. No limits with Anthony Bourdain. (I'd like to travel somewhere exotic and eat something gross. If I could eat my Grandmas thick sliced smoked bologna, I can eat anything. Seriously. She sliced it so that it was like an inch on one side and a 1/8 of an inch on the other. Then topped it off with smoked Cheddar and mayo. I tasted it for like a week.)

7. I occasionally get sucked in to Half Ton _____. Until my husband brings me to my senses.

8. Nova. It should be higher on the list but it's not.

Procrastination

I have four tabs up on the computer with jobs that I'll be applying for shortly. Applying online is so frustrating. I send off applications and resumes and hear nothing. I've seen jobs that I've applied for get re posted two weeks later and think, "Why didn't they just call me?" I think you miss something applying online. The employers don't get to see you. They don't get to talk with you, they don't get to feel your personality. You either look good on paper, or you don't. I don't look bad on paper, but I don't look awesome. There are a lot of people who look great on paper, but are socially retarded. People like me. I learn very fast. Hire me goddamn it!

My dream job would be a merchandising position in fashion. I'm really good at it, and it comes pretty naturally. My first job out of high school was in the juniors department of a brand new Foley's. It didn't take long before the head of merchandising would just ask me to take care of the juniors department. Soon after that the store manager would have me go around to every department to fold jeans. I was the "Jean Queen" any time a big wig was coming for a store evaluation I had to fold every pair of jeans in the store and redo all the juniors displays. Not that I ever got credit for it. I still remember the merchandising manager the store manager and some big guy with the company looking at a display I had done. The big wig and the store manager were saying how much the loved the display, and the Merchandising manager said...."thank you." After a year at Foley's I got a job at a small southwestern clothing boutique in Old Town. Now my style is certainly not southwestern. In fact I was in more of a goth punk phase, but I still did good work. I sold well, and within a few months they would save all display work for me. That lasted for about 7 years, then I had David and the owner sold the shop. I didn't work for a few years. When I got hired on at the gallery, I once again became the go to person for display work. I'm just super good at it. I would hear customers all the time saying how much they loved the displays.

Anyhoo, I can't find a job. I guess that's the bottom line. It makes me long for simpler times. Like when I lived in my tiny studio apartment and paid $350.00 a month utilities included. Sure, it had indoor outdoor carpeting and was built of cinder block. But it was home. I sort of miss how when the Lesbians two floors below me would fight It still sounded like they were right next door, and how my window looked out to another window set in cinder block and down into a dirty weedy alley. Ah. The simple life. When I spent all my money on rent, clothing, and just enough food to keep me alive. Of course as a fag hag my gay would take me out to eat all the time. Sweet.

New Stuff on my Etsy Site

I've uploaded about 12 new items on my etsy. I worked my butt off and made some hoops and dangles. I used all the supplies I had on hand and when I get more I'll make more. My personal favorite creation is my "Cemetery Gates" necklace. Inspired by my clever husband, I designed a necklace to look like wrought iron gates. I named it after one of my favorite Smiths songs. Here's a pic and I would love to know what you think!

Pathetic 20 Min. Search for Cadbury Robins Eggs

Today I shopped for candy. Easter is just a couple of days away and I needed to get out of the house for a bit. Now I try not to go too crazy with the candy for the boys. Just a few basics and a couple of fun extras for them to play with. As far as I'm concerned every basket needs only a few essentials when it comes to candy.

1. A chocolate bunny

2. Jelly beans

3. Cadbury Creme Eggs

4. Cadbury Robins Eggs.

That's it. Now to be perfectly honest, the boys don't care about what kind of candy they get. I could get them crap and it would make no difference to them. It just has to be sweet, but since I know I'm going to be eating it as well, I absolutely have to have the Cadbury Robins Eggs. The one thing I couldn't find at the store.

First, I slowly pushed the shopping cart up and down the Easter aisles scanning for the family sized bag of robins eggs. Then I picked up the pace and searched the aisles a second and third time. Next, I abandoned my cart and began scouring every end cap and center display. Finally a sales associate stopped me and asked me if I needed assistance. I told her what I was looking for and she showed me to the very last of the Cadbury Robins Eggs. They were hidden next to the Reese's peanut butter eggs. Only ten bags left. I grabbed two. One for me and one for the boys baskets. It took 20 minutes to locate them, but I got them!

Unproductive

So the job search is not going all that well. My former employer gave me one last paycheck. I've filed for unemployment, next up.... Welfare. I apply for jobs all the time, but haven't heard back from anyone. The market is pretty flooded with applicants right now. I feel frustrated and unproductive. I haven't started to make any new jewelry and I think I'm sinking into a depression. I'm trying to think of things I've done that are productive to keep myself positive. Here's my list.

1. Planted a tree yesterday. It's a Navajo Globe Willow. It grows fairly rapidly and I'm hoping that someday it blocks the view of the two story house behind us. At night they can see right in our kitchen and we can see in to their bedroom. Eeeewwwww.

2. I cleaned our bedroom. This may seem like not a big deal, but our room is where we throw everything. It looks like a bedroom now and not a storage closet. It's pretty cool and much sexier!

3. I folded a mountain of clothing. I'm not shitting you. I was folding laundry all day. I am not a very good house wife. I don't like house work and I HATE folding laundry. I got it done though!

4. I've started tanning. Now I know this is not good for you. I put SPF 50 on my face and lay out in my back yard. Another reason to block the view of the people who live behind me. I don't want to scar anyone with the image of me in a bikini. My Midriff is scary. It looks a lot like a balloon that was over inflated then popped. My skin and pregnancy didn't mix well. I could deal with stretchmarks, but the sagging skin is a horror show. Wish I had better genetics in that area. By the way I think right now is the perfect time to start tanning in Albuquerque. I lay out 20 min. a side and have not burnt yet. In the summer, I'd be a lobster!

I feel this list is a bit short so I'll be working on cleaning and organizing the master bath and closet today.

A special Thanks to Boutique by Bonnie! She nominated me for the Kreative Blogger award. I'm not sure how creative I am but I really appreciate the nod! Check out her blog at...
